- Over 25 years of experience in the mental health field
- Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2000, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- Clinical internship in Health Psychology, Medical University of South Carolina
- Post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry and the College of Medicine
